This lovely French gimmel ring features a slope-edged design that is very hard to find on gimmel bands. It is inscribed with “Mathilde de Leschaux 19 Juillet” on one band and “1854 Louis Jacquier” on the other. This was used as a wedding ring to commemorate the marriage of Mathilde and Louis on July 19th, 1854, in France. Gimmel rings were very popular in France in the 1800s to be used as wedding rings. A lot of these rings were scrapped and/or broken over the centuries and are hard to find in the present day.
