This Georgian miniature portrait pendant, which can also be worn as a brooch, depicts a woman leaning against an anchor (symbolic of hope), staring out into the sea. Her curly hair blows in the wind as she gestures towards the sailing ship, hoping her loved one will return to her. Amazing to be able to wear art from a long ago time that represented love, hope, and the uncertainty of the seas. 
To find antique navettes with a ship painted in the background is quite rare as it often depicted a woman’s loved one that sailed away, and their hope that they make it back from the dangers of the waters.
